Vi boede to nætter på Avenue Suites, og var mere end tilfredse. Kæmpe lejlighed i fuldstændig nyistandsat bygning, meget venligt og hjælpsomt receptionspersonale, og sågår en udemærket (inkluderet) morgenmadsbuffet, som vi ikke var blevet lovet på forhånd. Topkarakterer!! :-)

Virkeligt dejligt hotel med god beliggenhed i forhold til alle de store seværdigheder. God service i receptioenen. Desværre et værelse ud til en skakt, men havde ikke tid til at ærge os over det.

Hottellet ligger rigtigt centralt i forhold til de store seværdigheder i det centrale Washington DC. Det er slidt og af ældre dato, men det er funktionelt og vi havde ikke noget at udsætte på servicen. Desværre er hotellet stort og billigt, hvilket lejrskoler og lignende også benytter sig af. Det var ret irriterende, at den pris hotels.com oplyste blev belagt med en skat på 10 procent pr. overnatning da vi tjekkede ud og skulle betale regningen! Vi forventede at den oplyste pris var den fulde pris!

"Perfect for business travel in downtiwn"
Hotel itself was great, but checked in at 11:30pm took them 25 minutes to check us in stating they hate 3rd party transactions. (next night at Comfort Inn check in took 60 seconds). Room was very nice but Heat/AC controls did not work. Outside temp = 40 degrees. Room temp = 60 degrees.
"don't believe what the website tells you"
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was clean and comfortable, but the website we booked through listed a bath in the room description which it did not have. Having trekked around the Smithsonian and sights all day on our feet, the non-existent bath was sorely missed.

I had a great experience at The Madison from start to finish. Great meals and service at each of the restaurants as well as the coffee bar. Fantastic staff from the door to the desk as well as the room service and housekeeping staff. This was my first stay but I will absolutely be back each time I am in town.

"Very friendly staff"
It was an excellant stay. Everyone that worked there was very friendly. Tony Brown, the concirege was awesome and very helpful. No matter the time, the staff always seemed to be happy and friendly. Our pillows in our room were like sleeping on marshmellows. I really enjoyed my stay and recommend this hotel to anyone.

From check in to check out, everything was fantastic. The front desk was very warm and welcoming, the décor of the hotel and room was modern and polished, the bathroom was clean (though the shower head could have used more pressure), and the Keurig machine was a nice touch. I was extremely happy with the hotel. The customer service was excellent and the comfort of the room is second to none. The only suggestion I have is that maybe breakfast should be included with the stay.

"Too pricy and outdated"
For the money we paid for this room it wasn't worth it. First when we got there the guy at the front desk was on the phone and refused to look up at me when he knew I was standing there. When he finally got off the phone he asked me how he could help me I was walking into McDonald's. The room was small, musty and had a dirty feeling to it. "The Madison Hotel in DC has beautiful decor but"
We were not given the two rooms that we had reserved with 2 queen beds (instead they said they had king rooms only) and then when we were given the keys to one of our rooms, we used it and there was already a whole family with a dog in that room! Very embarrassing for us when we used the key and walked in to see a family already resting in that room. […] The rooms were comfortable and beautifully decorated but we found the service to be ungracious. We also came down for breakfast at 10:57 am and the waiter informed us that breakfast had just ended at 11:00 am and there would be a 30 minute wait until lunch started at 11:30 am. The best room we stayed in during our recent US trip! Very high standard of room and restaurants! The hotel was completing a refurbishment while we were here, what has been done is awesome! service was mixed, some were great others were not helpfull... the great out weighed the mixed, and I believe that many staff were fairly new following the renovations, […] the certainly seem to be putting plenty of effort into making sure everything is well done! "Fabulous"
Beautiful lobby and bar. Room was luxurious and stylish and had very nice amenities (great hair dryer, wine glasses & bottle opener, good magazines, etc.). Bathroom was on the small side (no tub) but totally adequate. Highly recommend!

Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Room was very comfy and clean. Location was central to many landmarks and metro station. Would stay again. The only negative was that none of the nearby parking garages were open after 7pm on Saturday and were closed on Sunday. Great location. They are undergoing renovations right now, but manage to keep that mostly out of view. Fitness Center is pretty good. Negatives: Overnight parking is $48. The website says it is $12, don't believe it, it really is $48 with tax. Our room was not serviced when we came back from a long day out. "Substance with style!"
While I always rely on reviews to make a final decision, I rarely make the effort to write one myself. As a frequent visitor to the nation's capital I was pleasantly surprised by my experience with the Madison! Everyone from the car attendant to the lobby staff to the bellhop were gracious and welcoming, and epitomized service with a smile! All were […] accommodating of our every request, making sure our stay was comfortable and to our liking. The newly renovated Madison looks AMAZING! It's clean and chic, and continues beyond the lobby into the room itself (which is not always the case). The beds were incredibly comfortable, and queen size for a double room (also not normally the case). The bedding was luxurious and comfortable, and there was no discernable scent, which is important for someone like me, who is subject to migraines. The location is a good one for capitol hill, as you are only a few blocks to the Farragut North metro station, and a pleasant stroll to the Mall for the rest! "Great location and lovely ambiance"
Many have complained about the "noise" due to construction. But, we didn't encounter that during out stay. A great place to stay if you're interested in sight seeing...you are close enough to walk, but the location is also private. Lots of places to eat and walk to within a block or two radius.

The service at the hotel, which was being renovated during our stay, was terrific and the renovation really didn't pose any issues. Very conveniently located and a super value.
"Nice Star Marred by Construction Noise/Fire Alarm"
The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Bravo. But the hotel was under heavy construction and the noise of a jackhammer made it most difficult on an important speech I was to give that evening. We asked to be moved, but the hotel was full....do doubt due to the reduced number of rooms available. At 1:40 a.m. the fire/evacuation alarm sounded repeatedly. […] It was a false alarm, and that's understandable. But the alarm continued to sound well past 2:00 a.m. and long after customers were told they could return to their rooms. Læs mere

"Nice property, but renovation create issues"
This is a very well appointed older hotel. The rooms are comfortable with flat screen (alas, no HD) TV's. Bathrooms are nice, and I love the heater towel racks! In our room (415), we could hear our neighbors talking very clearly,so the walls are very thin. Woke up at 9:30am to the sounds of drilling..very loud. "Good potential"
This hotel has lovely rooms and great service. I wish they had been a little more upfront about the construction. The attempts to have a buffer floor against the noise didn't help and they turned the water off for six hours. That being said, the remodeled rooms are gorgeous and this will be a great place once the remodel is finished. Great stay at the madison. To keep us away from the construction going on we got a updated room that was really nice. A little noise between 9 am to 5pm, but nothing major. Would stay again in a sec.
"First time in Washington DC"
Even though the Madison is renovating the staff made the impact practically negligible. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. Especially for the extra coffee in my room everyday for those late night sessions. Thanks for making my first time in DC a wonderful experience. I'll definitely stay here again.

The hotel si under renovation, with workman poundign above mt ehad - evebn after 6;00 PM. Toikets in toehr tooms could eb ehard throughotu the night. i can back to my roomn ons econd night to find TV pulled away from wall and back of unti on the floow-- where work was being done and left incomplete. the coffee maker did nto work 9and there were no cups […] nor coffee on first night) the hotel did reduce some fo my chazrges against these complaints, but ti was an unsatidfactory stay in a hotelw itha fine reputation. i was not pelased. Theyhad also mispalced my Hotels.com reservation and I had to go into my computer to bring up the original notice. Læs mere

"Good deal except for parking..."
Our family was visiting the DC area in order to run the National Harbor Hot Chocolate15K and to visit the sights around DC. We checked into the hotel around 9:30 pm and checked out the following morning at 6:00 am. Our room was lovely, the staff great, and we even had a great deal on the room via Hotels.com; however, the cost of parking was outragous […] even for DC. For less an 12 hours, the cost of parking was $40.00. Meanwhile, there is a parking garage right beside the hotel with 24 hour parking for $20. Læs mere

The hotel was perfectly located and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. My only wish is that they hadn't been undergoing renovations as I had to attend several business meetings via my phone from my room during the day and the construction noise was very distracting.

Very professional staff and courteous. Don't use their phone to make local calls, use your cell phone. They charge a dollar for every call you make. Also try to find parking on the street to save money from paying to park in the car garage next door.

"Split-Personality Hotel"
Took my family there for a few nights and I don't know exactly how to review the hotel. There were some very nice features and head scratchers. The good: - Location, close to the White House and all the attractions. - Comfortable, the beds were very comfortable - Staff, about 2/3 of the time the staff that we dealt with were outstanding The bad: - […] Construction, we were never told that there would be no water for much of the day due to construction - Hotel Directory, the hotel directory looked like something that my 7 year old put together as it was a few pieces of cardboard held together by a tie that you would use for a loaf of bread - Hotel Directory, the worst part of the hotel directory is that it included hotel features that the hotel didn't have. It mentioned a news stand/gift shop at lobby level and when my wife and daughter went to find it they were directed towards a CVS two blocks away, same for a ATM - Wake up Call, Luckily we woke up prior to the wakeup call anyway but each morning the call was anywhere from a half hour to an hour late - Other 1/3 of the staff, the other 1/3 of the staff that we encountered treated us as if we were bothering them just by being there - Ice/Vending, would have liked some sort of ice/vending area but there was nothing that we foundor that was mentioned in the hotel directory; asked a member of that 1/3 of the staff which I mentioned above about it was told to read the hotel directory and if it didn't mention if there must not be one (how this person is working in a service industry I have no idea) The biggest problems were no news stand or vending area. With having the family there it would have been nice to have that option to pick up a couplle things right there without having to walk to a nearby store in the middle of the night.
