The Belamar - Manhattan Beach

The hotel is located 5 minutes drive from LA´s main airport and close to Manhattan Beach. It is possible to borrow bikes for free - a 10 minute ride from the hotel to the beach. In general a good hotel with good service, excellent breakfast to a reasonnable price.

the Hotel has recently become a Pacifica Hotel. The amenities in room - specifically the L'Occitane products have been replaced by a "no name" set of products which leave A LOT to be desired. Also omitted, the cotton balls and q-tips. I had to ask for a bathrobe to be delivered, and the cleaning attendant put the pillow shams in the closet on top of […] my open suitcase. Really?? ? Great experience, and the service far surpasses the unbelievable fair pricing! If in the area this is without a doubt the hotel to stay!

Our room was located next to the courtyard and we could not sleep due to the loud music from the bar down stairs. The hotel staff was indifferent to my phone call about the noise. The room was spacious but dank.

Short business stay. Hotel was adequate though I'd like to see flat screens in a hotel room in 2012. Pretty lo key spot, only a handful of people in the bar in the evenings. The bartender is really nice and will call you a cab if you want to shoot over to the beach for a little more action. Didn't try any of the food, so can't comment. Takes like 9 […] minutes to get to LAX or the beach, which is really nice. The valet is ridiculous, your car is like 15 ft from the door most of the time. Læs mere

The Belamar Hotel is really nice and we loved our room. I think it's a bit lame that they charge for parking and for the water bottles in your room but other than that I had no complaints.

The hotel is a throwback but in a good way - chic. At first we were put in a room on the 1st floor near the entrance (very noisy) but we asked them to change us to a quieter area. We were put on the 2nd floor but the noise from the street was still audible. The room was nice and clean, the bathroom a little tight though.

If you liked the 1950's you are going to love this hotel. Beautiful decor with elegance and original furniture, light fixtures,etc. Robes in the rooms which work as a perfect cover up for the pool and spa. Conveniently close to LAX with clean and fairly comfortable rooms, although bed was too firm for my liking and I woke often to numb extremities. Not thrilled with need to valet park at this little place but service was excellent. All in all, OK - not great but pretty good.

Terrific rooms, attentive, cheerful, and helpful staff, convenient location, good breakfast ($15 per person extra).

The Hotel was very friendly warm and welcoming with very good staff and the restaraunt was excellent food great staff .I would certanly reccomend it ,and would definatly stay there again if I was in L.A

This is one of the top 10 hotels I've stayed in for this area. It's a cute little boutique hotel tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. It's swank, and you can't beat the location. Not only will you have access to what Manhattan Beach has to offer, but location wise, you're equidistant from LA to Orange County.

Hotel was great and very convenient. Restaurant was excellent.

There were only a few things that I didn't care about at this hotel. The pool is tiny and old. But then again what do you expect from a remodeled old hotel? Good thing you are not far from the beach. One night my husband and I went to the bar upstairs. Possibly the worst martini's we have ever had. Nice hotel. close to manhattan beach. I would stay here again if I needed to be either close to LAX or the beaches.

Really enjoyed my stay. Everything was clean and in great condition.

I booked this hotel as a romantic getaway weekend for my husband. It was a nice stay, but was impacted by excessive noise from the room above, room next door, and overall street noise. Even though I asked for a room away from the street, the room we received was still on the street side. When we checked out, we were not even asked how our stay was - […] not really the best service. This is a nice hotel, but the check in person billed me (my visa) for more than twice my hotel stay that was prepaid to start with. This was not handled professionally and I still haven't had the credit put back on my card!!!

Nice, clean, convenient hotel. The furnishings were modern and the beds comfortable. Close to downtown Manhattan Beach and beaches, as well as being surrounded by lots of shopping. If you desire to spend the day laying by the pool, I don't recommend it. The pool was isolated and the surroundings dreary.

The hotel seethes coolness, with impeccable attention to detail. The staff was great, the food/drink in the Second Story bar was great. Alexa, Matt, and Oscar were very helpful and courteous. They even had The Lagavulin scotch at the bar! The room request I made was complied with before I even checked in. We had a social engagement at a very expensive downtown hotel bar and decided to try this affordable nearby hotel instead. So glad we did. The Belamar is a short 1.5-mile jaunt from downtown MB restaurants and entertainment, and we even used their free loaner beach cruisers so we didn't need a cab home. The Belamar is a nice alternative to the typical giant hotels on Century. No shuttle service, but it is only $10 to park and the taxi is around $20. It is clean and has a nice little retro-ambiance. However, the bar closed at midnight on a weekend night even though it was busy. Really? I really liked the service at the front desks, the valet at the curb, and the restaurant food and the great daily extended happy hours, the adjectives fun, young & vibrant come to mind. I grew up nearby and the job Larkspur did upgrading what was once an outdated low end hotel is commendable. I like the late 50's slick, cool attitude, music and theme. […] However, I feel it falls short of a 4 star establishment they were aiming, because of some annoynaces, detail comfort items that were missed. Frist annoyance, I stayed in a smaller room, facing the busy boulevard and an ugly parking lot. The street noise was a bother when it was time to sleep. The addition of some noise blocking barriers, be it decorate walls, hedges, or trees would help as well as some attractive landscaping in the parking lot would improve the experience. The noise, the ugle view reminded me of the hotel's low end former life. Second minor annoyance, the bathroom was not well ventilated, no exhaust fan and the toilet paper was very abrasive, which was a surprise. I was tempted to scurry across the street to the drug store for some Charmin. We were happy that the room included a DVD player, but were surprised the television was a CRT set, not a sleek flat screen one would expect in hotel with a slick character, attempting to be cool. One last observation is the hotel is showing some wear and tear, holes in the carpet, a rust stain on the bathroom floor tile. A little maintenance will go along way in putting Belamar into a higher tier. Overall, even with the annoynaces and surprises listed here, I liked the Belamar for its coziness, intimate living room lobby, the fruit infused water, fun restaurant and daily happy hour, and the tremendous and enthusiastic young and attractive staff. I will probably stay again, but try a room that faces the interior courtyard to try the best Belamar has to offer. Læs mere

Hotel is great but the bathrooms are small. Thought the restaurant was outstanding and the outdoor area was great. One of the best locations to stay in Los Angeles !! The daily fruit infused water was a sheer delight. I also took advantage of the complimentary manicure on Monday. Very nice experience over all!!

This is a cool little boutique hotel with a lot of fun 60's accents in the lobby, including complimentary silver foil -wrapped Ding Dongs! Excellent service from a very visually pleasing staff (that means they've hired a lot of beautiful people). The room was very comfortable, though not quite as hip as the lobby. The upstairs restaurant had a good […] DJ scene going. We enjoyed our one-night stay, and we were treated to an excellent celebrity sighting in the lobby the following morning. The staff was vey helpful and friendly. The room was nice. i used the fitness room and if there was a downside is it can be a little larger with a couple of more machines. The pool and jacuzzi was excellent. I plan to stay there again.

Location is great if you want to stay somewhere close to airport and not an airport hotel as such. My room (Room 130) was spacious clean,comfortable and modern,bed very comfortable. One comment was the air conditioner was that was under window and maybe a little outdated/noisy and really didnt regulate room temperature, When I arrived my room was very […] hot ! The Bellamar is a nice , contemporary , simple design and the staff very friendly. Unfortunately, the room was not as clean as our last stay three weeks ago and it smelled of cigarettes. Good hotel for a quick in and out of LA for a couple of days. Room was comfortable, Lobby is nice, and quick access to airport and Manhattan Beach. Recommended.
